A Study in Seeds
About 5 or 6 years ago, I saved some seeds from one of my potted plants. I don't even remember what kind of seeds they are, just that I really liked the plant. So when we moved, the seeds came with us. Every once in a while, I'd come across them again and think I should plant them. So today I finally put them in some wet paper towels to see if they're going to do anything.
That of course reminded me of Operation Planting Seed. A couple weeks ago I was second-hand shopping and found this brand new jacket that has "Seed Consultants" embroidered on it. Couldn't resist. That will be my jacket on the trip.
And all of that reminds me once again of Jesus' words in John 12:24:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Pray for much fruit from the seed that will be planted.
Update: The seeds are starting to go moldy. I guess I waited too long. It sure made a great lesson to end the year with the girls on, though. I talked with them about the verse above and about the fact that if your life is only always about yourself and what you want, that you'll always be like that seed sitting in the plastic bag just a solitary seed. All the potential of new life, but no growth and no fruit. I think it was a good lesson.
